SSC, UC reach Champs League Final 4

-

MANILA, Philippines - San Sebastian College pulled off a come-from-behind 83-76 win over Letran while University of Cebu outlasted Southwestern University, 63-58, to complete the Final Four cast of the PCCL (Champions League) National Collegiate Championship by winning over separate opponents at the Ormoc Astrodome, Ormoc City.

Calvin Abueva fired 26 points while Ian Sangalang added 21 markers as the Stags overcame a 34-47 deficit at the half to pound out the victory and herald their return to the Final Four.

Jam Cortes shot 23 points for Letran, which sorely missed the services of top gunner Kevin Alas.

Reymond Almazan and Kevin Racal stepped up to fire 13 points for the Knights, who simply cracked in the face of the Stags’ strong finishing kick.

In the other game, Junmar Fajardo powered his way to 19 points and hauled down 16 rebounds as the Webmasters, the reigning back-to-back CESAFI champions, captured their second straight Southern Islands championship.

Eleazar Armacin fired 26 points and had five rebounds for SWU.

Meanwhile, the Final Four will start Monday at the FilOil Flying V Arena, San Juan with defending champion Ateneo taking on UC and San Beda renewing its rivalry with SSC.

The games will be aired live by ABS-CBN Sports on Studio 23.

The PCCL National Collegiate Championship is supported by Smart, M. V. Pangilinan, Molten Balls, FilOil Flying V and SM Ticketing.
