MANILA, Philippines - The world-champion Philippine Army team stamped its class by topping two events in the men’s race while De La Salle dominated as many events in the women’s contest in the First Zambales Dragon Boat Festival at the Uacon Lake in Candelaria, Zambales recently.
The Armymen, who dominated the world championships in Tampa, Florida, recently, topped Saturday’s 400-meter in one minute, 35.65 seconds, shoving De La Salle University (1:41:49) and Onslaught Racing Dragons (1:42.98) to second and third, respectively. Triton Team A was fourth (1:48.14).
In the 250-meter race Sunday, the Armymen were as dominating with a time of 1:03:88, beating by 5.94 seconds the Onslaught Racing Dragons. De La Salle was third this time with 1:11.60.
De La Salle ruled the women’s 400 meters with 2:11:96 on Saturday and repeated in the 250 meters with 1:26:28 on Sunday. Triton Team A was second in both events, finishing 2:24:20 in the 400 meters and 1:28:97 in the 250 meters.
Triton Team B was third in the 400 meters with 2:26.20 and Onslaught fourth with 2:39.63. In the 250 meters, Triton B was also third with 1:40.72 and Onslaught again fourth with 1:44.68.
