Fern-C bets off to Macau Int'l Kart GP
MANILA, Philippines - After a successful stint in the Asian Karting Open at Clark, Fern-C Racing is sending a lean three-man delegation to the 2011 Macau International Kart Grand Prix set Dec. 8-11 at the Kartodromo de Coloane Circuit.
Brothers Milo and Estefano Rivera, and Carl Pollington will be part of the Philippine team, with big hopes of delivering championship trophies for the Fern-C Racing Team powered by Bosch Power Tools, Placewell International Services Corporation, and Getaway Tours Int’l. Inc.
Matthew Chan, a 16-year-old top student of St. Jude Catholic School, copped the overall ROK Novice plum this year and showed a bigger promise in winning the ROK Senior title on his first race in the Asian Karting Open.
Milo Rivera, a 16-year-old Don Bosco student, is one of the country’s ace karters and the reigning Novice Slalom champion who will be vying for the Asian Karting Open KF2 crown.
Pollington will be the country’s big bet in the Mini-ROK class for winning the local crown in the Petron National Series.
But the biggest hope for national pride rests on Estefano Rivera who consistently emerged top Filipino finisher in both the Carmona and Clark rounds of the 2011 Asian Karting Open Championship.
A former Rookie of the Year, Estefano will be competing both in the Asian Karting Open KF3 division and the Commission Internationale de Karting (CIK) Formula 125 Open Junior event against the best in Asia and Europe.
“I don’t want to think of the pressure going up against top foreign rivals. I’d rather do my best and focus on my goal to win. After all, it’s all in God’s hands and I hope our countrymen will pray for the whole Philippine team,” said Estefano, who emerged the overall KF3 second runner-up in the 2010 Pagcor Sports KF2-KF3 Series.
“Our young karters worked hard and achieved big feats in the local and Asian karting series, and I believe they have strong chances in this prestigious international event,” said FERN-C Racing team manager and head coach Edgen Dy-liacco who commended his wards for their achievements this season.
