MANILA, Philippines - Top seed Luksika Kumkhum of Thailand outlasted Wing Yau Venice Chan of Hong Kong, 6-1, 6-1, yesterday to advance to the semifinals of ICTSI-International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s Circuit Week 2 at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.
Kumkhum outplayed Chan in both sets to arrange a clash with Japanese Yurina Koshino for a spot in the final of the event sponsored by the International Container Terminal Services Inc. The seventh seeded Koshino pulled off a 7-5 (ret.) victory over Ting-Fei Juan.
Second seed Yi-Jing Zhao and Lu Guo dispute the other championship slot in the event backed by the ITF, Philippine Tennis Association, Smart Sports, ICTSI, Phinma Group of Companies, Head, the official balls, Viva Mineral Water, Powerade Energy Drink, Chris Sports and Philippine Sports Commission.
Zhao disposed of fellow Chinese Zi Yang, 6-2, 7-6 (4), while Guo rallied past Xin Wen, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the doubles, Kumkhum and Peangtarn Plipuech beat Korean pair Ji-Hee Choi and Kim Ki Ryang, 7-6 (3), 6-2, to set up a title clash with fellow Thais Napatsakorn Sankaew and Varunya Wongteanchai.
