Olympians, Kings score in PCCL Minda leg

MANILA, Philippines - Cagayan de Oro league champion STI trounced Ateneo de Zamboanga, 111-94, while Jose Maria College routed Holy Trinity College, 107-80, in the Mindanao Regional championship of the Philippine Champions Collegiate League (PCCL) at the Almendras gym, Davao City recently.

The Olympians and the Kings, winners of the Davao City League, will dispute the Mindanao title with the winner advancing to the Sweet 16 Finals plus an all-expense paid trip to Ormoc City.

The Mindanao champion will face the CESAFI winner University of Cebu Webmasters in a knockout match.

Coach Joe Lipa Jr., PCCL executive director, said that the remaining Sweet 16 seats will be contested in the regional championship for Visayas at Ormoc Astrodome, Ormoc City on Nov. 27-28. He added that the regional championship games will be aired over Studio 23.

Other teams in the Sweet 16 group are Ateneo, San Beda, FEU, San Sebastian, Adamson U, Letran, UST, JRU, U Cebu, Southwestern U, National U, La Salle, University of Northern Phils., and University of Batangas.
