Souquet tries to keep run but wary of Biado
MANILA, Philippines - German Ralf Souquet tries to reassert his mastery over the top Filipino players as he takes on Carlo Biado at resumption of the Philippine Bigtime Billiards Face-Off series tonight at Pagcor Airport Casino in Parañaque City.
Souquet repeated over world No.1 and world 8-ball champion Dennis Orcollo, 9-6, at the start of the series last Saturday and is fancied to get past Biado in the 9 p.m. encounter.
The race-to-9, 10-ball duel will be aired live over Solar Sports, Sky Channel 70 and Destiny Channel 34. It serves as the second leg of a weekly series pitting local and foreign cue artists in matches telecast worldwide through the Internet, live streaming at www.starbilliards.com.ph, www.megasportsworld.com and www.philippinebigtimebilliards.com.
Souquet has beaten Biado twice during the Guinness 10-ball tour in Jakarta and the Philippine International Open 10-ball Championships in Manila last year.
But Souquet remains wary of his rival.
“He’s a great player so you don’t expect it to be an easy one,” said Souquet.
Biado, for his part, said he’s ready and vowed not to disappoint his fans.
The event is a joint undertaking of Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp. in cooperation with Pagcor, Accel, Diamond Table, Predator cues, Simonis cloth, Malungai Life Oil, I-Bar, Golden Leaf Restaurant, Hermes Sports, Billiards Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) with The Philippine Star as the official media partner.
Meanwhile, Ronnie Alcano battles Daryl Peach of Great Britain on Nov.19 while and Francisco “Django” Bustamante takes his turn against Peach on Nov. 26.
