Thai dominates wakeboard tilt

-

MANILA, Philippines - Rip Curl rider Daniel Grant of Thailand bested his rivals to cop the overall crown in the three-leg 2011 Stocked Inc-Rip Curl Asian Wake Park Tour (AWPT) at the Lago de Oro Cable Park in Calatagan, Batangas recently.

The 13-year-old Grant, displayed near-flawless moves and creative techniques to emerge champion in both the AWPT Pro men’s wakeboard and wakeskate divisions of the event presented by Stocked Inc. the number one action sports retailer in the Philippines and distributors of Rip Curl “The Ultimate Surfing and Wake Company.”

Grant, the last to perform as the top seed, observed the moves and style of his competitors and refined them into a more fantastic demonstration that impressed the crowd.

Winding his title quest with a bang, Grant unleashed an incredible 900-degree stint that earned the unanimous nod of the judges. He wrapped up his title quest with perfect 300s in both the Pro men’s wakeboard and wakeskate classes.

The Philippines, bannered by SEA Games-bound members of the governing Waterski and Wakeboarding Association of the Philippines (WWASP), also came up with a strong finish behind top female bet Samantha Bermudez, Mark Griffin, Carlo de la Torre and Brian Modrigo.
