Miriam strikes twice, paces WBL caging
MANILA, Philippines - Miriam College made the biggest leap in the Milo-sponsored Women’s Basketball League (WBL) when it logged back-to-back wins to lead Group A of the 17-Under Competitive Division of the BEST Center-organized meet over the weekend.
Miriam scuttled Community of Learners, 78-24, then came back to beat De La Salle-Zobel, 37-33, for its third straight win for the lead. CoL dropped to 2-2, while DLSZ slipped to 3-1.
DLSZ later beat New Era High School (1-3), 64-24.
In the lone Group B game, Assumption College nipped St. Paul-Pasig, 54-50, to force a tie with its victim on top with three wins and a loss.
Miriam also had a field day in the Group A of the 17-U Developmental Division, blasting St. Scholastica’s-Westgrove (1-2), 64-22, for a 3-0 lead. School of St. Anthony also improved its mark to 2-1 with a 28-21 tripping of the hapless St. Scho girls.
In Group B, St. Bridget School caught up with idle leader St. Pedro Poveda College at 3-1 with a 40-34 win over Casimiro Ynares Memorial School (1-2).
St. Theresa’s College (2-1) zapped Child Jesus of Prague, 44-14, in the other match.
