Operation Smile stages charity run

MANILA, Philippines - The 500 Smile Run, a charity fun run event featuring the 3K, 5K, 10K and 16K races, will be held Nov. 6 at the Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park.

The event, which also features a 500m dash for children, is held as the kick-off leg of the organizing Operation Smile’s 30th anniversary celebrations.

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and Operation Smile founders Dr. William Magee and Kathleen Magee will grace the event held in cooperation with PLDT and Smart and staged to present an opportunity for the public to get involved by supporting and joining the fun run to raise funds for Operation Smile’s medical missions and beneficiaries.

Operation Smile is a private, non-profit volunteer medical services organization that provides reconstructive surgery and health care to indigent children and young adults.

Proceeds of the event will fund the operation costs of children with cleft lip, cleft palate, or any other facial deformities.
