Five title bouts mark return of URCC-Colt 45
MANILA, Philippines - Action in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) shifts back to the Big City this Saturday after a series of blockbuster events in the provinces when the Colt 45-URCC XX is staged at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
“It’s going to be a ‘big bang’ before Christmas,” said URCC president and founder Alvin Aguilar, who along with long-time backer Colt 45 held successful tournaments in Cebu, Baguio, Davao and Bacolod.
“Everybody is waiting for this event to happen, so we are staging the event back in Manila.”
The event, co-presented by Tribal gear, is expected to draw another banner crowd with five title bouts on tap in the 10-fight schedule, including the much-awaited clash between Jessie Rafols and Red Romero in the “Superfight.”
Rafols is the interim bantamweight champion but he will have his hands full against the featherweight Romero, dubbed the “Filipino Bolo Punch” in the mixed martial arts (MMA) circle.
“We expect the Rafols-Romero fight to be a rugged one. Both are exciting fighters so a lot of surprises are in store for this fight,” said Aguilar.
Deftac’s Chris Luna also slugs it out with Hybrid Yaw Yan’s Nicholas Mann for the vacant URCC light-heavyweight crown in what experts predict to go the distance.
Focus will also be on Froilan Sarenas who will stake his URCC middleweight title against Dexter Mistades while Ryan Palinawan of Hybrid Yaw Yan battles Igor Subora for the heavyweight crown.
