AKTV on IBC13 to air SEA Games

-

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission have given their endorsement to AKTV on IBC13 for the most comprehensive coverage of the 26th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games to be held in Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia. The country will be sending over 9,000 athletes to participate in the biennial meet where there will be 44 sports events with 524 gold medals at stake.

The first free-to-air sports channel in the country, AKTV on IBC13 has supported Filipino athletes by airing their international matches in line with the ideals of TV5 chairman Manny V. Pangilinan and the MVP Sports Foundation, one of the biggest contributors to the SEA Games.

The SEA Games will officially be held on Nov. 11-22, with Palembang, Indonesia hosting majority of the events. Dedicating more broadcast hours as it airs the games live on the said dates, AKTV will also give highlights and up-to-the-minute reports. On top of an AKTV Center in Manila, coverage teams will be sent to each city to feature and support Filipino athletes.

AKTV will begin its extensive coverage of the SEA Games as early as November 3 with the football matches at 5pm, featuring the Under-23 Philippine Azkals playing against Vietnam.

The opening ceremony on November 11 will be held at the Kuto Besak Fort in Palembang, South Sumatra. The Philippines’ very own Lea Salonga will be collaborating with Indonesian actress-singer Agnes Monica and Malaysian singer Jacklyn Victor as they are ably supported by a 150-piece orchestra and 5000 dancers in what is expected to be an extravagant display of Southeast Asian culture.

All this will be witnessed by Filipinos on free TV via AKTV on IBC13 - Ang Kakampi ng Pinoy athletes.
