Top golfers mix it up in Highlands Ladies Cup today

MANILA, Philippines - The Highlands Ladies Cup gets under way today with a promise of another exciting battle for top honors among the country’s leading golfing ladies and their guests at the Tagaytay Midlands Golf and Country Club in Tagaytay.

A maximum field of 150 tees off in a shotgun-start, System 36 format event, all looking forward to another fun-filled competition put up annually by the Tagaytay Highlands Ladies Chapter not only to foster camaraderie among participants but also to generate funds for the Sisters of Mary and Pearl Buck Foundation in line with THLC’s social commitment.

Felix Ang, president of CATS Motors, Willie Ocier, vice president of Belle Corp., Jorge Mendiola, SM Retail president, Marixi Prieto, Inquirer chair, and Sandy Romualdez, skipper of Tagaytay Highlands ladies team, will hit the ceremonial drives to kick off the sixth staging of the event.

Prizes are up for grabs in the 18-hole tournament, backed by Diamond sponsors CATS Motors and Baron Travel and Platinum sponsors Philippine Airlines, San Miguel Corp., Pacific Online, Security Bank and W Towers, including business class round trip tickets to the US, Canada or any Asian destination for hole-in-one feats.

The trip is staked at No. 12 while Royal Caribbean and Club Car are offering a four-day Asian cruise prize for two and a golf cart for aces on Nos. 5 and 17, respectively. If nobody scores an ace, the Asian cruise prize on board Legend of the Seas will be raffled off among the participants.

Also to be given away in the raffle draw at awards rites are two business class round trip tickets to India, courtesy of Philippine Airlines, a round trip ticket to Singapore from Air Philippines and a round trip ticket to any local destination, also courtesy of Air Philippines, and a two-night, three-day stay at Eskaya Resort and Spa in Panglao, Bohol.

Backing the event as gold sponsors is Pilipinas Shell while Bingo Bonanza Corp. and SM Retail Inc. are the silver sponsors.
