-

MANILA, Philippines - Keona Marie Lozada, rising star from the Lozada family of swimming champs, twinkled in the pools with triumphs in the breaststroke and backstroke events in the Private Schools Association of Parañaque swimming meet, a competition hosted by Olivarez College and organized by the Philippine Swimming League to promote swimming among private and public schools in the city.

Lozada, daughter of Anthony Lozada and niece of Olympians Tuding, Cora and Tessie, surged to prominence in the elementary level with wins in the breaststroke with a time of 42.38 seconds and the backstroke in 43.36.

The competition was attended by all private school elementary and high schools in the city. The winners will go up against champions from public schools in a dvision meet in Parañaque for the NCR Palaro selection.

Joining Lozada, an elementary student from Manresa School, in the honor roll was Charisma Binder, winner in the 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley.

St. Paul College was overall champion with 11 gold, seven silver and six bronze medals, while Immaculate Concepcion was second and Master Academy third.

“There are a lot of potential swimmers here and we will be looking forward to seeing them in future meets of the PSL,” said Papa.
