Mighty Sports-Revicon finals tomorrow
MANILA, Philippines - Mighty Sports-Tagaytay Highlands, composed of Batches 1974 and 1996, and Revicon Max-Prima Pasta (Batch 1999) dispute the Cortina Conference (Division I) crown of the Xavier Alumni Basketball League tomorrow at Xavier School’s Jacinto Tiu courts in San Juan City.
Also advancing to the finals of the event sponsored by Highlands Steakhouse, Tagaytay Highlands and Dr. Ninja Purified Water are defending champion Batch 2007, which will face Unisia (Batches 94 and 96) in the Mena/Moran Conference (Division 3), and Pacific Pipes (Batch 2002) which will collide with Kong (Batch 87) in the Clifford/Pineau Conference (Div. 2).
League commissioner Sammy Uy (Batch 03) also announced the three winners of the MVP plums with Alvin Cotaoco of the 1987 Stallions topping the Mena/Moran Conference, Benedicto Coyiuto of the 1993-96 Baron Residences in the Clifford/Pineau and Philmon Yao (‘06) in the Cortina Conferences.
They all received trophies and gift certificates from Highland Steakhouse.
Meantime, the Alumni Association of Xavier School and the Xavier Alumni Basketball League said that eight teams are taking part in the POMSA-managed Golden Stallions Cup Inter-Alumni tournament set every Monday and Wednesday, also at the same venue.
The event features two age categories – 32 above and 40 above.
Participating in the tournament are Xavier School, St. Stephen High School, Chiang Kai Shek College, Phil. Cultural College, Grace Christian College, St. Jude Catholic School, Phil. Tiong Se Academy and Hope Christian High School.
