300 vie in Unilab bikefest in Subic

MANILA, Philippines - The Unilab Active Health Bike United hits the road today with more than 300 amateur and executive riders vying for top honors in Subic.

Bike King executive and TRAP director Raul Cuevas guarantees a hassle-free race through the three-day event ending Sunday since they would be racing in traffic-free and wide open roads inside the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.

The Unilab Active Health Bike United is the year’s third cycling event organized by Bike King with Unilab as its main sponsor and backed by SBMA and Triathlon Association of the Philippines.

Racers will compete in four groups (Cat. 1, Cat. 2, Cat. 3 and Cat. 4) in the male, female and junior divisions and in four stages on a challenging course that will test the field’s skills and stamina.

Action kicks off with the 90-km road race today while 80-km road race will be held tomorrow morning and another 20-km time trial in the afternoon.

The 40-km individual time trial winds up the event backed by Subic Holiday Villas and Subic Homes as official hotels and Pocari Sweat and Crystal Clear Water as the official hydrations.

The top three finishers in the individual category will get Timex watches while gift certificates will be given to the top riders in the Cat. 3 and Cat. 4 as well as in female Cat. 4 and Cat. 2 and Cat. 4 in the juniors.

All participants will get discount cards from Aristocrat Subic Bay while teams entered will be provided with one Yellow Cab discount card that will be honored for dine-in, take-out and delivery transactions in all their outlets in the Philippines.

Vying in the event are Team Bike King, Shell Cycling Clubs, Fitness First, Yellow Cab, Polo Tri, David’s Salon, Von Dutch, Paircargo, Suunto, Wetshop, Mica Gas Jelly Belly, Quest 825, Nestle Cycling Club, John Wilkie, Excellent Noodles, Army Navy South Tri and Xycos.
