UPHL dominates NCAA South volley

MANILA, Philippines - University of Perpetual Help-Laguna stamped its class in volleyball by advancing all four squads to the finals of the 13th NCAA South volleyball tournament at the San Beda College Alabang Sports Complex over the weekend.

The defending champion girls’ squad downed the hosts, 25-16, 25-17, 25-23, in the semis to set up a best-of-three title showdown with La Salle-Lipa, a 25-10, 25-17, 25-23 winner in the other semis match.

The UPHL boys team subdued University of Batangas, 25-23, 25-12, 25-18, to arrange a clash with La Salle-Lipa, which tripped San Pablo College, 25-19, 25-13, 25-14, for the crown.

The Biñan-based school faced its toughest test in the women’s division of the event sponsored by Chocolate Clothing, Philips Avent, Goody and Chefs Classics, needing five sets to rally past University of Batangas 25-23, 23-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-10.
