Del Rosario to open Earthly mag golf

MANILA, Philippines - Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario is slated to open the second Earthly Magazine media invitational golf tournament this Saturday at the Luisita Golf and Country Club in Hacienda Luisita, San Miguel, Tarlac.

The tournament, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and activism by building a partnership with vanguards in environmental protection such as the media, was made possible with the support of its major sponsor San Miguel Corp.

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) is the co-presenter of the event.

Other sponsors include Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Senators Ramon Revilla Jr. and Francis Escudero, Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary for Media Relations Rey Marfil, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Mandaluyong Mayor Benhur Abalos, Cebu Pacific, Chevron Philippines, ICTSI, Universal Robina Corp., businessman Harry Chen, People’s Concepts and Ideas, Choi City Cebu, Orient Pacific International Travel and Tours and Oregon Power Tools.

Japanese Embassy Consul General Motohiko Kato and Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr. will join Secretary Del Rosario in the ceremonial tee-off to officially open the tournament.

Earthly Magazine (www.earthlymagazine.com.ph) is a web-based communications clearinghouse dedicated to expanding media coverage of critical environmental issues

The first Earthly Magazine Media Invitational Golf Tournament was held at Intramuros Golf Club on Sept. 11, 2009, which drew 45 media practitioners and golf enthusiasts.

This year, Luisita Golf Club will play host to the event. It is the first course in Asia designed by legendary golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Sr.
