Arbole seizes control in Cangolf Am with 70

MANILA, Philippines - Art Arbole fired a two-under 70 to wrest a one-stroke lead over fellow national team members Clyde Mondilla and Andres Saldana at the start of the Canlubang Amateur Open Golf Championships at Cangolf’s south course yesterday.

Reymon Jaraula matched par 72 while Richard Joson and Byung Kyu Cho carded identical 73s to stay in the hunt for the crown in the 12th staging of the tournament.

Zanie Boy Gialon made a 74 while Alex Nallos struggled with a 76 in the 54-hole Championship Division.

Meanwhile, Lovelynn Guioguio opens defense of the ladies crown she won last year although she faces a formidable challenge from her teammates in the ICTSI golf stable.

Other events on tap in the tournament, sponsored by The Turf Company and Pacsports Phl Inc., are the Classes A (11-and-below), B (12-18) and C (19-up) which will be played today and tomorrow.
