'Gladiator' stakes URCC Visayas crown

MANILA, Philippines - Victor “Gladiator” Torres puts his Visayan pinweight crown on the line when he collides with Iloilo wushu star Ruel Catalan anew in the Colt 45 URCC Bacolod Brawl on Sunday at L’Fisher Hotel, La Proa (Main, 1 and 2) in Bacolod City.

In a match between a grappler and a striker, Torres is out to re-assert his mastery over Catalan, whom he beat via split decision the first time they clashed.

“I want to show that my victory the last time was no fluke,” said Torres, confident of his chances in their grudge match in the event presented by Colt 45 (The Strong Beer for Real Men) and backed by Tribal Gear, Smart, PCSO and L’Fisher Hotel.

In the co-main event, reigning Visayan bantamweight titlist Leonard “The One” Delarmino (Capanay MMA) hopes to extend his reign against Rex “T-Rex” Delara (Tinagan Warriors).

A former wushu champion like Catalan, Delara will rely on his knockout power to dethrone Delarmino in the event backed by Frenzy Condoms, Chris Sports, Bulls Gloves and Chiken Deli Bacolod.

In the Superfight card, Agustin “The Demolisher” Delarmino (Capanay MMA) will test the mettle of pinweight No. 3 Alvin “Sindikato” Ramirez.

Both are fancy strikers with Ramirez expected to use his grappling skills to crush Delarmino.

Tickets in the event, supported by Solar Sports, Island Living Channel, Killer Bee, AMPTV, Headrush, SKT Digital and Sun Star Bacolod, are pegged at P300 (floor seats) and P650 VIP (reserved seating) and are available at L’Fisher (034) 433-3771 (local 504).
