Revicon, Mighty-Tagaytay gain XABL semis berths

MANILA, Philippines - Revicon/Prima Pasta (Batch 99) of coach Carlo Tan and the Willie Ocier-managed Mighty Sports-Tagaytay Highlands (Batch 74 and 96) finished 1-2 in the elims and gained the outright semifinal berths in the Cortina Conference (Division 1) of the 2011 Xavier Alumni Basketball League Highlands Steakhouse Cup by finishing 1-2 at the end of the elims at Xavier School’s Jacinto Tiu Competition Courts in San Juan City.

The two remaining semis berths will be contested starting today by La Campana (Batch 97-98), China Airlines (Batch 05), Megacem (Batch 2010) and the Freshman team (Batch 2011) of Donal Ong, Bryan Tan and Angelo Wongchuking.

Last year’s champion Gerry’s Grill-Pet One was eliminated.

In the Clifford/Pineau Conferences (Division 2), the top four teams in each bracket face off against separate rivals with unbeaten Pacific Pipes (2002) going up against Leonard Lee-mentored Myphone (Batch 2001-2002), Kong of coach Pat Aquino (Batch 87) colliding against Moneywire of Mike Fuerte (Batch 92 and 95) and See Concepts/Warrens Men’s Underwear (Batch 2003) of coach Lester Lim taking on Royd Tan’s Emerald PVC Pipes (Batch 94).

Akiba Cafe of Philmon Yao (Batch 2006) squares off with Jester Ong’s Baron Residences (Batch 93 and 96) in the other match of the event sponsored by Highlands Steakhouse/Tagaytay Highlands and Dr. Ninja Purified Water.

In the Mena/Moran Conferences (Division 3), Mighty/Traffic (Batch 05 and 07) is still awaiting the winners between Reva/Boracay Rum (Batch 2006) and Guardians/Timberland (Batch 2002) as well as Unisia (Batch 94) and I-Direct (Batch 2004).
