MANILA, Philippines - The Castrol-Tuason Racing School Drift Team eyes another impressive feat behind defending champion Mike Tuason, Bjorn Ongtiaobok and the new Mazda RX-7 today in Round 8 of the 2011 Lateral Drift Pro AM Championship in Parang, Marikina.
Tuason, a multi-titled karting and circuit racing champion, is seeking a back-to-back crown for the Castrol-TRS Team powered by Castrol, Bridgestone, Oakley, Coke Zero, OMP, C!Magazine, Discovery Suites,Toptul, Speedlab, Hafele, ROTA, Belo Men, Aguila Auto Glass,Dupont, Starbrightbodykits and Ultraracing.
Ongtiaobok, on the other hand, will provide the back-up to Tuason as he also aims to move up in the title race.
And after steering the sensational Mazda BT-50 Drift Truck to the championship last season, Tuason hopes he could weave the same magic with the Mazda RX-7 that displayed superb power in the GT Championship last year.
The Castrol-TRS technicians made big adjustments on the Mazda RX-7 to make it more versatile to the highly-competitive demands of lateral drifting against the more favored Nissan Skyline and the Slyvia s15.
“This is another big challenge for the team. We have been encountering lots of stumbling blocks. But together with Castrol and our other sponsors, we hope we can bring our performance to new heights,” said Mike Tuason.
