MANILA, Philippines - Art Arbole stood out among the Filipino players as he turned in a three-under par card with three holes to play to be in the top 10 at the start of the rain-suspended Asian Amateur Championship at the Singapore Island Golf Country Club yesterday.
Arbole, a member of Putra Cup team, made four birdies at the back from where he teed off but stumbled with a bogey on No. 1 then parred the next five holes when play was stopped due to heavy rains.
He was in provisional joint seventh but will have two par-5s (Nos. 7 and 9) to work on for birdies when he resumes his round early morning today.
Malaysian Kenneth de Silva fired a 67 to force a three-way tie for the lead with Ian Andrew and Japanese Hideki Matsuyama.
Rupert Zaragosa shot a two-under 70 for joint 11th while Juan Miguel Yee carded a 71 for a share of 18th.
Clyde Mondilla, the former national titlist, made a 73, Zanie Boy Gialon had a two-over card and John Abdon had a six-over card with three holes to play.
