Motorcyle racing back at Boomland

MANILA, Philippines - A festive gathering marks the return of motorcycle riding sport as the Motorcycle Taipei Research Team (MTRT) stages its third MTRT Club Event on Oct. 2, at the Pasay Boomland Kart Track.

Over 200 riders from various motorcycle teams and clubs have confirmed their participation in this event presented by Honda Phils. Together with major sponsors FDR, Racing Boy and AIT, minor sponsors Kymco, Jad Racing, Motul, Repsol, Motolite, KTM, HGM, SRT, SmartBatt, JM Mirasol, Castrol, JP New Tomas, JVT, Spyder, DSF, Gatorade, DBS, 720 Armour, and donors Triumph JT Mktg., Deka Trading, Boomland and EverFoam Industrial Corp.

Also supporting the event are media partners Motorsiklo Xklusibo, Inside Racing, Stoplight TV, The Racing Line, MCP and Motorista.

MTRT’s Henson Hu collaborated with Stat Med’s Nina Gironella, Turbo Racing’s Ronald Manipon, SK Racing’s Dustin Esguerra, Boomland and NRA’s Jake Swann to make the event possible.

Bearing the Theme “Race On The Tracks, Not On The Streets”, the said event is aimed at reviving the interest in motorcycle racing as a sport, promote social responsibility and continue the talent discovery search in underbone and scooter racing.

“Just like what our theme emphasized, we want riders to satiate their passion for speed on a real track and not get the ire of other people by doing it on the streets.  It’s also our social responsibility to get our youth away from drugs and violence by getting them into the sport,” said Hu.

“Moreover, we want to also stress that more than the risks and dangers, motorcycle racing is all about riders skills, camaraderie, excitement, machine engineering,  the beauty of teamwork and how the mechanics race against time for quick repair,” he added.

The race is open to riders of all brands and will be (Underbone and Scooter Racing Association) USRA- approved. Major classes will be covered by insurance for this event.

These riders will be competing for the titles in seven major race categories, namely: the Scooter 130cc Beginner, the Scooter 160cc novice, Scooter 180cc Expert, Under bone 115cc novice, Under bone 115cc Intermediate , Under bone 130cc Inter / Expert and the Under bone 150cc Inter / Expert.

Ace riders Dashi Watanabe, Cassey ng , Ralph Kenneth Torres, Bryan Ortile, Gerald Cruz, Jeoffrey Teopengco, Rizaldy Canare, Dexter Daquigan, James Barcial, Nino Fabian, Dustin Esguerra, Herbert lopez, Jeffry Chan, Marvin Mangulabnan , Anthony Roman, Michael Altamira, Benjo Mendoza , and also star rider from Cebu Garry Caneda, Lyndon Requilme, Keken Cabahug , Mark Capoy will be joining the hunt for the titles at stake as they go up against rivals from Honda Motorworld Cebu , JVT , Jethron , DSF, Team Salbahe,  HGM, Replica Pro, Spark Racing Team, Jad Racing , ET Works, Team Friction Zone , Batman Racing Pro ,Ton’s Racing, Team G Shop, Team Castrol, Team ERE,  Yamaha Riders Club of Cavite, Cebu Beat Riders, Crossroad Riders Club Makati, Street Bie Riders, United Riders Club Power Pipe Kids, MIO Exclusive Club (MEC), MIO Owners Society (MOS), Nouvo Owners Society (NOS), Super 8 Club, Kymco Like Club, Alliance Beat Riders (ABR), Dash Owner Club, CBR Club Phil., and Skydrive Phil.

Luscious cash prizes, trophies and other items await the winners.  The champion gets P10,000 cash and trophy, the runner-up wins P5,000 cash and trophy, third place – P2,000 plus trophy, fourth place – P1,000 and fifth place – P500.

Adding excitement are three invitational fun races – the All Mechanics Race (open for mechanics with no pro-rider background ), the Team Race ( single group race for touring team ,Club riders. Race with your team mate ) ,, and Club race (for no track experience riders only you can feel the speed of the race) .
