Poblacion Pardo, Pulpogan triumph

MANILA, Philippines - Cebu City’s South District powerhouse Poblacion Pardo and Baranggay Pulpogan of Consolacion scored lopsided victories Sunday in the first Handy Fix Super League National Barangay Championship at the Capitol Parish gym in Cebu.

Pardo overpowered neighboring Punta Princesa, 81-59, while Consolacion-based Pulpogan trampled Apas, 89-55, in the main game.

Brothers Rexon and Russel Moneva shot 22 points each for Pulpogan, which unloaded a 20-0 early to dominate the match.

Ronald Somosot and Jervie Ermas added 16 and 15 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Ope Abellana-mentored Poblacion Pardo needed a 22-12 run in the third quarter to put away Punta Princesa.

Malana led Pardo with 19 points and Babiera added 13 points, while Laborte had 18 for Punta Princesa.

The tournament, backed by Sapal, resumes on Saturday at the Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. Memorial gym in Atillo Compound in Punta Princesa.

The top two finishers of the Cebu City elimination will advance to the Regional Finals against the champion teams from Lapu-Lapu City and Talisay City.
