MANILA, Philippines - Seventeen-year-old Beacon Academy student Sacha Feliciano is seeking to regain the lead in the points standings of the Yamaha Cup Novice Division in the ongoing Petron Karting Series, which will hold its penultimate leg Sept. 25 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
Feliciano fell back to second place in the championship chase behind Basti Escalante, who now leads the series by six points.
In the previous race held at the Enchanted Kingdom, another kart came into contact with Feliciano’s, resulting in her retirement in the pre-final, costing her valuable points.
“I’ve put that whole thing behind me and I’m looking forward to the Clark race, which could be the turning point in the championship,” the plucky karter said. “I like the track because it is fast and has several passing areas, which… will make for interesting racing.”
Multi-titled race driver Edgen Dy-Liacco, who is coaching the upcoming star, said, “Sacha has a good head on her shoulders and her tactical sense is uncanny. Those two assets will definitely come into play during the race, which is why I believe she will do well and will ultimately lift the championship trophy at the end of the season.”
