UE Knights shootfest on

MANILA, Philippines - The UE Knights Inc. holds the National Commander’s Cup shooting competition today and tomorrow with a big field expected to see action at the QCPD Shooting Range, Camp Karingal, Quezon City.

PNP Chief Nicanor Bartolome will be the guest of honor in the two-day event, a PPSA-sanctioned Level I tournament hosted by Quezon City Law Enforcers Gun Club.

The event’s chief partners are Stradcom, Globe, and Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA), according to UEKI National Commander Antonio Cua Jr.

Hundred gun clubs and enthusiasts in Metro Manila are vying in the tournament, according to organizing committee chair Ron de la Vega. 

The shootfest is part of the month-long celebration for the 65th UE Foundation Anniversary this year with the theme “José Rizal: Nasa Puso Ng UE”, commemorating the heroism of Dr. José Rizal on his 150th birth anniversary. The UE 65th anniversary will officially begin on Sept. 25 with UE officials, alumni, students, faculty members, employees and special guests to lead the motorcade from UE Manila to Fort Santiago, Intramuros, and then walk to the Rizal Monument to lay a wreath in honor of the National Hero.

“We dedicate to Dr. Jose Rizal UE’s 65th anniversary as UE and Dr. Rizal profess similar ideals,” according to UE’s marketing executive director Jesus Tanchanco Sr., chair of this year’s celebration with OCA director Generoso Caringal as co-chair.
