La Salle pads lead in junior golf circuit

MANILA, Philippines - La Salle Greenhills showed up with just three players and minus first day top scorer Inigo Raymundo but still padded its lead to three points in the junior division of the junior golf circuit as JP de Claro fired 49 points, AR Ramos made 48 and Gus Pacheco had 40 for 137 and a 36-hole aggregate of 283, including a 146 in the first round.

Jama Reyes exploded for 54 points but Miguel Shah and John Molina turned in just 43 and 37, respectively, that left La Salle Zobel with 134 and fell 21 points behind at 262.

Pauline del Rosario (55) and Bernice Olivarez-Ilas (51) combined for 106 and 190 two-round total as La Salle Zobel widened its lead to 51 over Assumption’s Annika Cedo and Andrea Pineda in the Girls 2 group.

The tourney is part of the school season series of the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines backed by the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. It is also sponsored by Philippine Airlines, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy, Sizzilin Pepper and Chevrolet.

Sheng Chang Yo of the MIT International School led all players in the individual category with a 106 after scoring a 51 at Capitol. He was up by three over Justin Quiban of Kennedy School with Jama Reyes in third at 101.

Pauline del Rosario paced Girls 2 by 10 over Mikhaela Fortuna and Marvi Monsalve of St. Paul’s College Pasig was 14 ahead of Sam Martine in Girls 2.
