58 ladies take crack at WC nat'l bowl crown
MANILA, Philippines - It’s the ladies’ turn to take a crack at the Bowling World Cup national title Sunday at Coronado Lanes.
Fifty-eight of the country’s veteran and upcoming keglerettes, led by internationalist Liza del Rosario, will roll 10 games each starting at 10 a.m.
After Sunday’s round, the top 34 performers based on total pinfalls will advance to the second day on Sept. 21 at Paeng’s Midtown Bowl.
Eighty-two men’s bowlers, headed by six-time world champion Paeng Nepomuceno and former world kingpin Biboy Rivera, are scheduled to open their respective bids tomorrow. The men will roll 12 games each with the top 34 moving to the second day of action on Sept. 20 at Paeng’s Midtown Bowl.
With their scores carried over, the remaining eight men and eight ladies after the games at Paeng’s Midtown will figure in the quarterfinal, semifinal and final matches Sept. 23 at the SM Mall of Asia Center.
The national men’s and ladies’ champions will represent the Philippines in the 47th BWC International finals set on Nov. 30-Dec. 7 at Northcliff Bowling Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
