MANILA, Philippines - Adamson University dominated University of Santo Tomas, 70-59, not only to secure a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four but more importantly to fan its bid for a third straight crown in UAAP Season 74 women’s basketball.
Last Tuesday’s playoff was to determine which gets the No. 2 spot in the semifinals between Adamson and UST, which wound up with identical 10-4 (win-loss) records after the double-round eliminations that ended over the weekend.
The Lady Falcons and the Tigresses meet again at 9 a.m. tomorrow, also at the Blue Eagle gym, at the start of the Final Four, where top-ranked Far Eastern University faces De La Salle at 11 a.m. for their own semifinals duel with the Lady Tamaraws holding a twice-to-beat advantage like the Adamson ladies.
Snow Penarandsa topscored with 24 points to go with nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks for Adamson University, with Anna Buendia contributing 20 points, 10 boards and three blocks.
Juvelyn Andaya had 16 points and Mary Silva and Mary Joy Galicia each had 10 points for UST.
Also scheduled for Friday at the Blue Eagle Gym is the juniors basketball Final Four with No. 1 seed FEU taking on No. 4 and three-time titlist Ateneo at 1 p.m. and No. 2 La Salle-Zobel battling No. 3 National University at 3 p.m.
