UAAP t'kwondo kicks off at The Arena

-

MANILA, Philippines - University of Santo Tomas (UST) seeks to repeat as women’s champion while De La Salle University hopes to keep the men’s trophy in Taft Avenue as UAAP Season 74 taekwondo action reels off today at the Arena in San Juan.

But the Tigresses, who have won the women’s championship 11 times, will be hard-pressed this season because Season 73 Athlete of the Year Camille Manalo, Emron Golding and Izel Masungsong are no longer on their roster.

But UST, according to head coach Dindo Simpao, would be relying on Jade Zafra, who played a key role when the team snatched the crown from Far Eastern University (FEU) last season.

The Green Archers, on the other hand, will still have Season 72 MVP Marlon Avenido on the lineup as they vie for their seventh crown. Avenido was not eligible to play last year.

The Tiger Cubs, meanwhile, will be defending their crown in the juniors division.
