Biboy leads World Cup qualifiers

MANILA, Philippines - Former world champion Biboy Rivera rolled a 12-game series of 2607 to lead the second set of national finalists in the 2011 Bowling World Cup at the Mall of Asia Center recently.

Rivera qualified for the national finals set on Sept. 17, 18, 20, 21 and 23 along with 42 other male and 26 female aspirants.

A total of 74 bowlers – 42 men and 32 ladies – had previously advanced in the first center finals held in 14 venues from July 8 to 14.

Among them are six-time world titlist Paeng Nepomuceno and Liza del Rosario, considered one of the Asia’s top lady bowlers.

The finalists will vie for the right to represent the Philippines in the 47th BWC international finals to be held Nov. 30–Dec. 7 at the Northcliff Bowling Center in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The first elimination of the national finals will be held on Sept. 17 (men) and Sept. 18 (ladies) at Coronado Lanes, the second day on Sept. 20 (men) and Sept. 21 (ladies) at Paeng’s Midtown.

The quarterfinals, semis and the finals will be held Sept. 23 at SM MOA.
