Ortigas, Philippines – King Theodore recently won the Philippine-Japan Friendship Racing Festival convincingly at the San Lazaro Leisure and Business Park in Cavite.
Owned by businessman Doroteo Pangilinan and ridden by jockey Virgilio Camañero Jr., King Theodore topped a field of nine horses with a time of 1:37 over a distance of 1,500 meters. Finishing second was Golden Pyramid while My Queen took the third spot.
The Japan Racing Association (JRA) Cup, the co-feature race during the 12-race event, was won by Naugh Naugh with a time of 1:43:50 over 1,600 meters followed by Flawless and Babe’s Magic.
On its sixth year, the racing festival is held at San Lazaro to celebrate and strengthen ties between the Philippines and Japan.
The event was attended by top officials of the Japanese Embassy led Minister of Economic Affairs Akio Isomata. Also in attendance were Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Philippines vice president and executive director Nobuo Fujii and secretary general Masazumi Nishizawa along with JRA Hong Kong Office representative Shuji Tanaka.
