Lady Archers nip Tigresses in UAAP caging
MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle leaned on Aracelie Abaca and Hannah Viterbo as it squeaked past fancied University of Santo Tomas, 51-49, in the UAAP Season 74 women’s basketball tournament at the Araneta Coliseum over the weekend.
Abaca and Viterbo scored 12 points apiece, Trisha Piatos added 11 markers and Kady Wilson hauled down 17 rebounds for the Lady Archers, who notched their sixth win in nine games.
UST dropped to 7-2.
In other games, defending champion Adamson, meanwhile, routed University of the Phl, 75-42, while Far Eastern University clobbered National University, 83-60, to likewise post their seventh victory against two losses.
Snow Penaranda hit 21 points and hauled down 10 rebounds for the Lady Falcons.
Ateneo stayed within striking distance with a 61-57 victory over University of the East last Sunday for its fifth win against four losses.
Only Paula Bombeo scored in double figures for UST with 10 points while Mary Joy Galicia pulled down 11 rebounds in the closely-fought contest that featured four deadlocks and six lead changes.

The Junior Maroons led 19-10 in the first quarter and 32-28 in the second, before forcing the Bullpups to work extra hard in the last two frames to snatch the victory.
Raymart Sablan had 13 points, Diego Dario 12 and Freddy Pajarillaga and Kim Cinco 11 each for UPIS. Paolo Rivero, Ralph Napa and Ralph Busa each had 14 points for NU.
