WW, Forest secure Fed League playoff
MANILA, Philippines - Former champion Wack Wack and Forest Hills secured their places in the next round even as defending titlist Riviera gained a new lease on life with a big victory over Sta. Elena in the recent matches of the Men’s Federation Golf League played in various courses.
With similar 5-1-0 win-loss-draw records, Wack Wack and Forest Hills have clinched the two spots in Group 3 and both are also in contention for the league’s two outright semifinal berths given to the teams posting the best records in the eliminations.
Wack Wack trashed Forest Hills, 5-0, at home in their most recent duel to wrest temporary overall leadership.
It’s still a three-way fight in the other two groups with Eastridge and Royal Northwoods leading the way.
Eastridge dumped last year’s losing finalist Valley, 4-1, to improve to 5-3-0 and stay on top of Group 2 with 15 points. Orchard drew with Mimosa 2.5-2.5 to stay just a point behind Orchard, which is in second place at 12 points.
Riviera virtually ousted Sta. Elena with a 4-1 away result while keeping its hopes alive. The win enabled Riviera to improve to 3-1-0 and tie Alabang for second place at 9 points.
