MANILA, Philippines - STI Colleges overwhelmed AMA Computer University, 80-51, to record its second straight win in the NAASCU men’s basketball tournament at the STI gym in Global City, Taguig.
Cedric Ablaza scored 17 points while Hesed Gabo added 14 points and Ivan Moreno had 10 markers for the Olympians, who also routed last year’s finals tormentor University of Manila, 90-74, in the opener.
Raymond Alvarado and Mac Avellana led AMA with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Other winners were Informatics Computer Colleges, who defeated City University of Pasay, 94-75; and Our Lady of Fatima University, which demolished newcomer Trace College-Los Baños, 80-51.
Mark Montuano fired 25 points while Jiovani Jalalon, Mark Limpat and Eric Acuna combined for 33 points to power the Icons past the Eagles, who drew 17 points from Paolo Chua.
