Burlington-Life Begins@40 caging slated for seniors
MANILA, Philippines - Burlington Industries Phils. (BIP) Inc and Total Events and Athlete Management (TEAM) recently inked an agreement to stage the Burlington-Life Begins@40 basketball tournament set to fire off Sept. 24 at the Living Food Phils gym in Maybunga, Pasig.
Eight teams have so far confirmed participation in the tournament aimed at fostering camaraderie among 40-years-old-and-above players and at the same time generate awareness on the need to stay fit.
“We support the objectives of Life Begins@40 cagefest for we believe that we need to be physically fit and mentally sound even in our mature years,” said Ruddy Tan, general manager of BIP, long considered as hosiery industry leader.
To make it a truly family event, the tournament will also feature side events such as the father-and-son 3-point shootout and father-and-daughter free throw shooting contest.
According to Teddy Pereña of TEAM, the Burlington-sponsored tourney, backed by BioFresh anti-microbial solutions, Conti balls, Accel, Unilab and Pollen B, will have two divisions – Ruby for those 40 years and up; and Gold for 50 years and above with ex-pro Bennett Palad as commissioner.
Heading the roster are PCS ’74, SunMoon Giants, Biñan City, LFP, Electrobyte, Divina and Uy Law, Ayala Alabang and Burlington Shock XT.
