Falcons aim for joint second vs Warriors

-

MANILA, Philippines - Adamson seeks a share of second place with Far Eastern U as it squares off with winless University of the East today in the 74th UAAP basketball tournament at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

The Falcons, who downed the Santo Tomas Tigers, 81-71, Sunday, to tie their victim at No. 3, is fancied to roll past the Warriors and join the idle Far Eastern U Tams in second at 3-1 behind the unbeaten defending three-peat champions Ateneo Eagles (4-0).

Gametime is at 1 p.m.

La Salle and National U, meanwhile, shoot for their second victory as they clash in the 3 p.m. duel of teams tipped to contend for this year’s crown.

The Archers checked their two-game skid with a 79-67 victory over the UP Maroons over the weekend while the Bulldogs are out to improve their 1-3 card.

Alex Nuyles is expected to lead Adamson’s attack again along with Janus Lozada and Eric Camson, who turned in impressive game against the UST Tigers the last time out.

“We are trying to be consistent every game, I hope we could do it the rest of the season,” said AdU coach Leo Austria.

Although the Warriors have yet to pick up a win in four starts, the Recto-based squad remains a threat after giving the Eagles a tough fight before succumbing in the end, 61-73.

Meanwhile, the women’s games scheduled yesterday at the Blue Eagle gym were cancelled because of typhoon Juaning. The games – UE against UST, NU against De La Salle, Adamson against UP and Ateneo against FEU – will instead be played on Aug. 3 also at the Blue Eagle gym.

UST leads the women’s division with three straight wins, followed by De La Salle, Ateneo, Adamson and FEU with 2-1 records, UP and NU with 1-2 and UE with 0-3.
