Anton cruises to victory in circuit showdown
Manila, Philippines - Yokohama-Castrol driver Carlos Anton stamped his class over a field of 50 plus drivers from all over the country to rule the Circuit Showdown event last July 2 at the Clark International Speedway.
Anton topped the Time Attack event using the Mark Young-prepared Hornitex-CRX on Yokohama A050 rubber and posted a time of 1:07.1 to top the Bracket-A event and take home the Best Time of the Day award. He also ran an Emperor-prepared Nissan Skyline GTR 35 and clocked an impressive 1:08.2 second run.
“Both cars ran well today and taking home a first and a third place in one division was fantastic. The Mark Young Emperor-GTR did very well considering it is almost stock and not really built for the short track layout we used in Clark today.” Anton said after his winning runs.
Team owner Mark Young was highly pleased with the team’s victory and quickly credited the preparation for the results. “We worked very hard for this race since last month and today that made all the difference!” Young added.
Anton dedicated his win to his late father-in-law Salvador Navarrete who passed away last May. “He was always there to support my racing and career, I miss him dearly,” Anton said.
Anton’s team is backed by Mark Young, Yokohama, Castrol Edge, Hornitex and Emperor Motorsports.
