Buenavista, Santos rule Manila Bay Cleanup Run
MANILA, Philippines - Two-time Olympian Eduardo Buenavista and Cebu’s queen of the road Mary Grace de los Santos won the 21-kilometer races for men and women in the Manila Bay Clean-Up Run, put together by Manila Broadcasting Company to raise funds to clean up Manila Bay,
Buenavista outclassed Kenyan James Talam while De los Santos proved that she has recovered fully from a leg injury after being bumped by a motorcycle in a previous marathon. May Anne Barcena gave the Pinays a 1-2 finish with Kenyan Fleris Toyhu taking third overall.
In the 10K race, Julius Sermona and Mercedita Fetalvero emerged winners. Mervin Duarte and Llewelyn Tumbaga copped the top spots in the 5K run. John Ray Moreno and Mary Anne de la Cruz ruled the field of nearly 2,000 runners in the 3K fun run. PhilHealth, fielding 200 runners, won the award for biggest delegation.
The Manila Bay Clean-Up Run was supported by Smart Communications, Pharex, Summit Mineral Water, Enervon Multi-vitamins, M. Lhuillier, Alaska, Cobra Energy Drink, and the Business Mirror Publication Group.
