MVP keeps options open on NBA buy
Manila, Philippines - The giant Smart-PLDT group of Manny V. Pangilinan is continuing talks with NBA people for possible business ventures.
“We continue to talk to several franchises in the NBA for potential opportunities,” said Al Panlilio, a Meralco senior vice-president during the press conference yesterday announcing the staging of a two-game series between an NBA selection against Smart Gilas and a PBA all-star team.
Panlilio said the MVP Group is considering buying shares in the Sacramento Kings or the Philadelphia Sixers.
“We’re basically looking at teams that openly announced they’re for sale,” said Panlilio.
Panlilio, who also heads the MVP Sports Foundation, said they have been approached by the Philadelphia Sixers.
“Yes we were approached by the Philadelphia Sixers owners,” said Panlilio.
