'Walk for fun, walk for life' launched July 19

MANILA, Philippines - Women officials, sports commissioner and Olympian Akiko Thomson-Guevara and Mayor Alicia Paulican-Resus of the Municipality of Maramag will serve as inspirations in the launching of the “Walk for Fun, Walk for Life,” during the Women in Sports 2011 to be held in Bukidnon on July 19-22.

The project, which aims to entice not only women but men as well will formally start on July 22 at the Central Mindanao University in cooperation with Dr. Luisa Soliven, university president.

“The fun walk is an effective way to exercise without strenuous means making it highly recommended for young and adults alike,” said commissioner-in-charge Guevara.

Meanwhile, the PSC will organize football, badminton, athletics and dancesport clinics to be held simultaneously on July 20 – 21. Jb Villamidez will teach badminton, husband and wife team Elma and Jojo Posadas for athletics, husband and wife team Joel and Anabelle Madera for dancesport and Noah Sajo and Josette Puentevella for football.

Lecture-seminars on sports psychology and strength and conditioning will be provided by Prof. Henry Daut and Mr. Erlando Abilo, respectively.
