Lascuña seeks to end slump
MANILA, Philippines - Tony Lascuña tries to snap a long title drought on the ICTSI-Philippine Golf Tour as he joins the title hunt in the P1 million ICTSI Negros Occidental Classic firing off Wednesday at the Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club in Bacolod.
Always a contender but never a winner on the revival of the local circuit, Lascuña comes into this week’s event in fine form, having turned in a Top 10 finish in the Negeri Sembilan Masters Invitational of the ASEAN PGA Tour ruled by Siddikur of Bangladesh in Malaysia yesterday.
Lascuña actually took the lead by birdying the first three holes but lost his rhythm with bogeys on Nos. 4 and 8 and dropped out of the lead with a triple bogey 7 on No. 10. He closed out with a 74 for 279 and finished eighth worth $4,233 (P177,786).
Siddikur rallied with a 65 for a 271 and posted a four-shot win over Malaysian Danny Chia, who had a 275 after a 70.
