Bigger Bolo Cup shootfest slated

-

MANILA, Philippines - A bigger and better staging of the annual Demetrio “Bolo” Tuason Cup is in store for all active shooters and gun lovers when the meet unveils its 11th edition on July 15-17 at the Armscor Shooting Range in Marikina City.

Organizers of the meet announced in Tuesday’s PSA Forum at Shakey’s UN Ave. that they expect to surpass last year’s number of participants that reached to 322 comprising both local and foreign shooters.

“We’re very confident that we’ll do even better this year,” said Gina Marie Angangco, president of Armscor Shooting Center, who came to the weekly forum presented by Smart, Outlast Battery, Shakey’s, and Pagcor together with Armscor executive vice president and general manager Roberto “Bob” Sajot.

The three-day event is sanctioned as a Level III match by both the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) and Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA), making it an international meet that is just below the Australian Championship and the World Shoot, which are considered Level IV and Level V competitions, respectively.

Held in honor of Armscor chairman and president Demetrio “Bolo” Tuason, the tournament also serves as the National Capital Region (NCR) championship and will have five different divisions, namely standard, open, modified, production and revolver std.

Champions in each division will get a chance to win a new caracal pistol made by European weapon designers in cooperation with United Arab Emirates weapon experts.

Prominent shooters such as former world champions Jethro Dionisio and Jag Lejano are among the local participants seeing action in the tournament.

Like in the past, the yearly shootfest also serves as part of Team Philippines’ preparation to the IPSC World Shoot XVI in Rhodes Hellas, Greece.
