Checkmate Saturday classes set

MANILA, Philippines - The Milo-sponsored Checkmate Saturdays- and Sundays-only chess clinics get going tomorrow in five venues in Metro Manila with Kinderville Learning Center at 123 Speaker Perez St. in Retiro, QC holding the event from 8:30-11:30 a.m.

The other schedules are slated in Gatchalian Subd.(Ph. 5 Marquez cor Villanueva Sts.) in Las Piñas City (2 p.m.-5 p.m.); Little Presidents Learning Palace in San Miguel Avenue, Manila (1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.); McDonald’s – Binondo, Manila (8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.) and at ETON Cyberpod Bldg. in Ortigas Avenue cor Edsa.

The clinic consists of seven regular sessions with six lectures and a final evaluation tourney spread in six consecutive Saturdays or six Sundays. Separate extra sessions for opening study are also added to each series. Among the courses offered are for preparatory, beginners, intermediate and advance.

Thursdays-only sessions are also available and will start on June 30 at selected venues. The venue for classes in Fairview, Quezon City will be announced later.

The clinics will also serve as preparation for the forthcoming Milo Little Olympics-NCR division, for kids 7-16 years old, set Aug. 13 at Marikina Sports Center.
