Pucay joint 14th
MANILA, Philippines - Mars Pucay birdied the last hole for a three-over 74 as he settled for joint 14th in the Queen’s Cup ruled by Thai Chawalit Plaphol at the Santiburi Samui Country Club in Koh Samui, Thailand yesterday.
Pucay, who started the final round in ninth place, had a fine start of 35 but tumbled down the standing with a bogey-double-bogey-bogey stint in the first three holes at the back. He dropped one more stroke on No. 14 before holing out with a birdie for that 74.
He wound up with an even 288 that included rounds of 70, 73 and a 67.
Tony Lascuna matched par 71 but finished way below at joint 47th with a 294 while Michael Bibat finished with a 296 after a 74 for a share of 50th.
Plaphol, who had a 68 in the third round, bucked a bogey on No. 1 with four birdies, including on the par-3 No. 15 as he built a two-shot cushion over compatriot Prayad Marksaeng to top the $300,000 event with a 273 after a 68.
Marksaeng finished second with a 275 after a 67.
