Pastor makes impression in NASCAR

Manila, Philippines - Champion Filipino driver Ferdinand “Enzo” Pastor had a remarkable debut in the Euro NASCAR Amsterdam leg, placing second behind Romain Fournillier in a wet and wild race.

Pastor, the first Filipino to run in Euro NASCAR, impressed the promoters and organizers as he barely lost the championship due to a gearbox failure.

The young Filipino driver, in a raging Alain Grand, emerged as the race’s biggest surprise as he finished second after starting from eighth position.

Tanguy Ide came in third, a tenth of a second ahead of Vincent Gonneau in the race toughened by rain.

According to France Racecar Euro-Series officials, it’s a great result for the promising Filipino driver, opening the opportunity for him to be considered for a slot in the 2012 Euro NASCAR race series.

Famed F1 drivers Sebastian Viettel, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kimi Raikkonen and Louis Hamilton competed in the Euro NASCAR Race of Champions.

Pastor now races in Euro NASCAR with a hope of making the NASCAR USA event.

“To make this happen, a Filipino co-driver is needed and several series sponsors to complete a Philippine team,” said motorsport icon Tom Pastor, president of the Philippine Formula Autosports Foundation.

“This is the best time for top corporations to come in and use this as their channel to promote their products and develop their corporate social responsibility to our nation,” he added.
