DPS tankers vie in Universiade

Manila, Philippines - The Diliman Preparatory School Swimming Center and the Philippine Swimming League are sending 15 men and women swimmers to the 26th Summer Universiade, considered the Olympics on the collegiate level, to be held Aug. 12-23 in Schenzen, China.

DPS president and chief executive officer and former Sen. Nikki Coseteng said UAAP champion University of the Philippines is sending the biggest delegation.

 The UP varsity swimmers are Robert Steven Villanueva, Sean Michael Garchitorena, Gerald Alvin Alcover, Orpheus Magbanlac, Ma. Claire Adorna, Dennice Juliet Cordero, Antoinette Aquino, Carla Beatriz Grabador and Jacklyn Judith Junio.

They will be joined by coaches Noel Rivera and Bernardo Cavida.

The other members are Denjylie Cordero, Kimberly Briones and Ajirulla Jaitulla of the University of the East with coach Dennis Cordero. Cebu star Loren Dale Echavez of University of San Carlos completes the team.

The complete lineup was approved by the Federation of School Sports Associations on recommendation of Coseteng and PSL president Susan Papa.
