Wild scramble for W Slashers crown looms

MANILA, Philippines - The World Slashers Cup-2 8-Cock Invitational Derby holds its final round today with leading entries disputing berths in the championship at the Araneta Coliseum.

Only three entries posted four wins in the Group B semis – the Liberator Rachel Mitzki JU of James Uy, Paniqui CAT-1 of Bebot Roxas and Peping Cojuangco and Thunderbird Sabongnation star Pol Estrellado’s P. E. Farm entry. They will join Group A entries with 3.5 and four points tomorrow for the grand finals.

Former Slashers champion Rey Briones (Spartans DR-1) heads the Group A four pointers who include A. S. Nowitzki (Allan Siaco), Oxford Princess Casino 7-Stag Derby Oct. 16 (Mayor Jose Panganiban) and Phoenix Tangub-LZ (Mario Villamor and Louie Zerrudo) while 2005 World Slasher titlist Boy “Bulalayaw” Marzo (AB JAYA BM June 25 5-Cock Derby SJC/BM), WSC finalists Nestor Vendivil (Oliver WRN-1) of Talavera, Nueva Ecija compose the 3.5 pointers group.

Out to sweep their four remaining matches with 3-1 win-loss cards from Group A are Ormoc Gold breeder Bernie Tacoy (Roan Osprey-2) with Jun Bacolod of Davao and Blue Blade Game Farm owner Engr. Sonny Lagon (Sto. Angel-Hawai) combined with Howard Inafuku, Octagon Rian WRN-II of Rikki Reyes and Yellow Rose 4-Stag sa Pasay Oct. 21 (Wilbert LeBlanc), @PR Knights RIAN WRN (Rikki Reyes), @Rian KSA TNT WRN (Rikki Reyes), Ednalyn PLK (Joselito Gerona), Bukidnon Magbabaya RM (Suzi Antino and Mayor Shephard Tan), C & C Borgs (Borgy Ubas).
