MANILA, Philippines - Pacific X-Treme Combat, Guam’s premier mixed martial arts events company, has linked up with San Mig Strong Ice as it debuts in the country on June 11 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila.
Fighters from Brazil, Korea, California, Florida, Hawaii, Saipan, Guam and the Philippines see action in seven fights that will showcase PXC’s initial venture in the country.
Fil-Am UFC fighter Brandon Vera is expected to grace the event’s inaugurals.
The Guam outfit’s tie-up with San Mig Strong Ice, according to PXC promoter and general manager EJ Calvo, is perfect for young, aggressive and adventurous individuals.
“San Mig Strong Ice is bold and strong, much like our shows and the MMA scene in general,” said Calvo. “We both share the same market demographic of young, aggressive and adventurous individuals, all of whom want to see MMA finally take off locally. The audience will really get a kick from the double excitement they will get in our premiere.”
With almost 2,000 plush seats available for the show, Calvo confident that PXC’s strategic partnership with San Mig Strong Ice, the high alcohol beer that’s ice-filtered to give a different type of chill, gives the event the added muscle to succeed.
Menlou Bilbonia, San Miguel Brewery senior vice president and marketing manager, welcomed the tie-up, saying: “Being the Pacific region’s premiere MMA organization, PXC will definitely boost the local fight scene and we want to be there when it happens.”
The Philippine premiere will be PXC’s 24th staging since it launched the event in Guam and the Micronesian region in 2004. In addition to launching the professional careers of the region’s top MMA fighters, the PXC intends to develop fighters who would compete in the biggest MMA organization in the world, the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
