MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City and Antipolo face separate playoff opponents today, seeking to arrange a best-of-three title showdown in the second Coca-Cola Hoopla National Capital Region Championship at the C.P. Tinga gym in Taguig.
Taguig and Antipolo tangle at 7 p.m. after the 5 p.m. game between Quezon City and Caloocan with QC and Antipolo enjoying twice-to-beat advantages.
If necessary, the rubber matches will be held tomorrow. The top prize of P250,000 awaits the NCR champion.
In a battle of inter-zonal leaders, Quezon City routed Antipolo, 105-89, Sunday at its home turf in Masambong.
Quezon City topped the inter-zonal with a 4-0 slate while Antipolo and Taguig finished with a similar 2-2 cards. Antipolo clinched the No. 2 berth, however, by virtue of its 86-74 win over Taguig earlier.
Caloocan and Mandaluyong wrapped up the semis with identical 1-3 slates, but Caloocan claimed the fourth and last playoff slot on the strength of an 80-79 win over the Central zone champion.
